creative case studiesThere's usually a deeper reason why producers choose certain spots for inclusion on their showreels or portfolio. Some circumstance or condition that may not be obvious without some prior explanation. Of course, you can just watch the videos and let them speak for themselves. But even though ads are either good or bad, even though they should be self-explanatory; there really is no way to avoid giving some kind of background information, some stated goals so that the "industry viewer" can analyse & assess the creativity & context of the communication. This is why I have organised my portfolio into creative case studies; so that the work is not just promotional, it's educational as well. It also allows me to endlessly group and link spots together into (hopefully) unambiguous batches. |
